It was high time I got in gear again and did a gig. The missus and I just moved the household to Catonsville (just outside Baltimore) and that took a lot of attention for a couple of months. So, thanks to Dave Alberding, I got back into the music with a Starbucks gig.

This one, in Bowie, of all places, was a songwriter round-robin, and truly a treat. I met up Steve Erwin, a friend from the old Gallagher's Pub in D.C. Steve used to host the open mic there in the late '80s when he wasn't out generally wowing the songwriter cognoscenti with his repertoire. On this night, Steve was in typically sharp form, with evocative vocal deliveries. It amazes me that the Starbucks series makes performances like this available for the price of a cup of java.

We were joined by John Fahres, an earnest young man from Baltimore with a guitar and a CD project in the works. Bright eyed and too young to be jaded by this avocation, John happily shared his growing repertoire of original tunes. John Farhes is busy plying the dues circuit of bars, and I wish him well with upcoming summer music festivals. Check him out.

Steve Erwin has himself a webpage that YOU need to visit.
