This was the week of the Washington Area Music Association's Crosstown Jam. A good number of live music venues scheduled acts to raise money at the door for area charities. By virtue of nothing more than serendipity, I was asked to join the Thursday night bill at Luna. Drummer Hassan Ali couldn't make it, so we went acoustic, sort of, with Matt Holsen on bass and Rob Receveur on lead guitar. We had a short set, taking just one hour. But we shared time that night with Geordie Keitt, The Sock Monkeys, and Bad Influence (more on them in another diary entry). Sara Landymore organized this gig and ran the sound board for us. Matt and Rob goofed around a bit while setting up, but both settled down to some real work after cranking it up. This was also a coming-out party of sorts for my new Taylor dreadnaught-- a beautiful guitar made from Hawaiian koa. Rob also plays a Taylor. Matt appears here with my Fender JP90 bass.We
did mostly originals from my CD "Leaving Pretoria," and threw in a couple of covers-- one Stones, one NRBQ-- just for laughs.
