I know, I know... September 3 is not really autumn yet, and Labor Day had not yet come to pass. But this was a September date, so I think of it as a "Fall Coffeehouse Gig." This was another round-robin-- fun, because I get to listen to other musicians... and I only have to do one third of the work. Tonight's show teamed up
Jack Quigley, Suzanne Michele, and me. Suzanne and I have crossed paths many times before, and I must admit she has enviable marketing skills (a must in this demanding avocation) and an ever-increasing repertoire of home-spun tunes. Suzanne presents a rich alto voice and an "aw-shucks" stage presence to all her shows. She made time for tonight's gig, since she's due to get married in about a month. Jack is an intuitive showman with a crowd-grabbing voice and an encyclopedic command of American roots music styles. He shared a number of tunes from his new "Nuclear Hootenany" CD. Suz has a CD, too, with another in the oven, apparently. Both also have dandy webpages. Many thanks to Jack and Suzanne for sharing the stage, making two hours go by VERY quickly.
Check out Jack Quigley's website and
Suzanne's as well.
