Gabrielle began her musical career, at age two, with the drums. At nine, Gabrielle decided to switch instruments and instead, picked up the alto saxophone. At ten, she met and studied with Ron Sutton Jr, a local saxophonist, for two years. Gabrielle continued to practice and play the saxophone, with guidance and encouragement from numerous teachers and mentors, throughout middle and high school. At fifteen she studied with another local saxophonist, Vincent Laudear, which lasted for six months. Throughout her high school career, Gabrielle played in numerous bands both within her high school and community. By her final years in high school, Gabrielle garnered numerous awards for her virtuosic soloing, the most notable including the best soloist award at the All-American Music Festival at Disney World, Orlando, FL, and the best soloist award at the Brandywine High School Jazz Festival, which included a scholarship to the UArts summer jazz program. Gabrielle also received a scholarship from the Council of Jazz Advocates(COJA), for her work with a young community jazz band, which even graced the stage at the Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in 2004. Gabrielle now attends the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she studies with jazz great, Gary Thomas.
